Mexico trip with Friends!

Mexico trip with Friends!

One of my friends decided to get everyone together before their own missions and take a trip to Mexico. Boy was that fun! We got to sleep out on the porch of a beach house, enjoy the cool breeze, listen to the waves and watch the stars. We did a lot of fishing...too bad I didn't bring my camera! Anyways, I hope you enjoy my photos. I was having too much fun playing with my friends that I didn't record most of it, but the sunrise may make up for it!

Pre-MTC Party for Justin

Pre-MTC Party for Justin

Here are a few pictures of all those who have good wishes and admiration for Justin as he enters the MTC.
We had a lovely family Home evening in Rosanna and Pedro's house. Marilee and her girls sang "Sweet is the work" with their beautiful voices blending wonderfully. That set me up to teach the lesson on fear faith and the spirit. Justy is such a good example of humility, like Mike, that it was easy to show how being filled with charity will make them fearless as he enters into the unknown, possibly fearful, work of teaching the gospel. It was also easy to show by his example that remission of sins brings the gift of the Holy Ghost which in turns gives the gift of charity. In that audience it was natural to testify of the invitation of the the savior for all, no matter their transgressions, to come to him and become clean. We had a nice outpouring of the spirit.
Amazingly the member of the Mission Presidency who came to set Justy apart was our Mission President when we were in the Rochester Mission. That made his setting apart very special. Interesting how the Lord blesses us continually.

Well, I got my missionary picture taken today, so I thought I would just share the proof with you! I even did some "photoshop magic" on it to make myself look good Ü. Hope you enjoy it!

Missing Photos Revealed...

We had a wonderful dinner last night (Saturday the 12th of May). Aisling, a good friend from our ward, came to eat with us in celebration of Justin's arrival. She knows Brett and happened to bring several pictures of him that no one has seen before! So my Dad and I have scanned them and placed them up on the internet for you guys. These never-before-seen photos came just-in-time for Mother's Day! Hope you enjoy them.

A Yankee Meadows Picnic

A Yankee Meadows Picnic

Here are some pictures of a picnic at Yankee Meadows. I can almost smell the smoke of the fire and hear the running stream, the wind through the trees and the playful romping of the dogs. I can almost see Brandon looking for the mud to jump into! There is even a snowman!

Comedy Improv: A great date idea...

Comedy Improv: A great date idea...

Saturday night in Rexburg, what is there to do? Umm, how about major laughs! I took a friend, Elizabeth, to this Comedy Improv. They played it off like "Who's Line is it Anyway". They did a great job and had Elizabeth and I laughing our heads off. Afterwards I had Elizabeth come with me to snag a picture with Kirby. There was a huge line, so we just went in front on the side, asked a nice lady to take a picture of us with Kirby, and then I said to Kirby, "smile, you're about to be on camera!" So, he totally stopped for a little bit, stood up, and gave us a smile. It was awesome. Of course we had to finish the night off with some DDR(Dance Dance Revolution). These are the kind of fun things to do if you live in Rexburg. You're all welcome to come if you'd like!

Silva's Speak!

Silva's Speak!

For my birthday Mom and Dad included a CD from the Silva's. I have put it online for your viewing pleasure. It was so fun to see the videos and realize how perfectly we fit together. I would love to sit in the kitchen quoting movies and eating those yummy looking beans and rice.

Thanks for the tours of the rooms by Manoel and Eliane and Rachel. They were great. And Ammon gives the best tree tours around.

I just uploaded it all and it turns out the videos are pretty big...so you have to be patient while they load, but when they do they are worth it!

Thanks again!

Here are the photos and movies

March Madness!

March Madness!

This has been one of the greatest months in my book. So many fun activities: Elder Free's return, family visits, mountain man rendezvous, Mexico vacation and Dad's (Uncle Joe's) birthday. I've uploaded all of the pictures of those events, so I hope you enjoy them!
Just click on this link to get there.
Please note that these pictures are coming from both my camera and my mom's. Her camera's date was set a day earlier, so there may be several spots in the sequence of photos that may be out-of-sync. I have changed hers to match mine, so from now on, the photos should be in order.
Love ya'll!

Mesa District Writing Contest Personal Narrative Winner

Mesa District Writing Contest Personal Narrative Winner

Joshua wrote a personal narrative in school that won in his class and was an Honorable mention for Mesa District...I think that is about 41 elementary schools! Way to go Josh! I thought you might like to read the narrative:

The Last 47 Seconds

"Timeout!" My coach raised his hands to a "T" looking sign. My team and I ran to the chairs and sat down. Sweat covered my whole body. We tried to hydrate ourselves by sipping some ice-cold water. Our team tried to listen. I couldn't. My mind was racing and my heart was pounding like a herd of horses sprinting thirty five mph. My eyes were blurry because of the sweat. It felt like there was a furnace on my eyes. I could see my coach shouting to us and, I noticed the crowd was dead silent. They were probably waiting to see and hear what would happen next.

The gym was glistening like diamonds were everywhere. I saw the score-board and I saw that it was 57-58, and we were losing. I was as scared and nervous as a bird waiting to be dinner. I looked up to the audience and noticed my family was dead silent. My mom was holding her hands together, and my dad was talking to my brother, and the rest were just staring at me, slightly smiling. When I heard the referee blow the whistle, my heart dropped. There were forty-seven seconds on the clock. This was our last chance to win. I stood up, told my teammates that it was time, and then we walked to the basketball court.

My teammate, Lumpy, tipped the ball to me and like a flash of lightning, I passed the ball to my other teammate, Quaid, and he shot a lay-up. Swoosh! Yes! Although I was filled with joy, I got even more nervous. So I said to myself, "Hurry Josh! Get back on defense!" I raced back to my place and glimpsed the clock. Theere was only 34 seconds on the clock and the other team was wasting time. 33...25...23. The shot clock was at three seconds and finally they shot a two pointer. They made it. It was 59-60 and we were losing! My heart was about to explode, but I decided to take in the pressure and everything else and throw it into the trash. I passed the ball in and the went. 22...15...12...11...9. It was time to react now, so I bolted down the line. 8...7..., and Quaid passed the ball to me and I passed it to Lumpy and he shot a lay-up. It was like slow motion. The ball left his hands. He did a finger roll. The audience tensed. They were clutching their hands. They were nervous. The basketball approached the hoop. I smiled. The ball went through the hoop. Yah!!!!!!!!!! But as quick as a flash the other team got the ball and show. 6..5..4..3. The ball bounced off the rim and went off. Yes! We got the ball and wasted the time. 2..1..0. "The gami is over!" shouted the referee. We all shouted and patted backs. I looked up to my dad and he gave me thumbs up. I smiled. That was the best game ever!
