Fun at home!

Fun at home!

I was able to get a week off of work and visit home! The best part about it was I surprised everyone! When I walked inside mom was in the kitchen. I snuck up on her, put my arms around her, and said "hi". She was totally surprised, and her reaction was definitely worth coming here for. Part of the time I spent at home, we decided to go camping in Canyon Creek. You can check out the pictures by clicking here.

AELDSTE FREE

Here are a bunch of photos of the last few days before Mike entered the MTC. It was great getting together with so many to wish this wonderful missionary the best. The drop off at the MTC was awesome - I'm green with envy that he gets to stay there!

Anyway, here they are for all to enjoy.

Josh's Conference Trip

Josh's Conference Trip

We had the chance to take Joshua to conference. As a result of that and other situations, Daniel and Becca also came up. Joseph came up with the Caltons but returned with us.

Here are some pictures of family and fun times in Paragonah and at conference and other random pictures!

March Madness!

March Madness!

This has been one of the greatest months in my book. So many fun activities: Elder Free's return, family visits, mountain man rendezvous, Mexico vacation and Dad's (Uncle Joe's) birthday. I've uploaded all of the pictures of those events, so I hope you enjoy them!
Just click on this link to get there.
Please note that these pictures are coming from both my camera and my mom's. Her camera's date was set a day earlier, so there may be several spots in the sequence of photos that may be out-of-sync. I have changed hers to match mine, so from now on, the photos should be in order.
Love ya'll!
-Mike

Elder Free Arrives!

Elder Free arrived home. Here is some video shot by our good friend Lauren LeSueur. Two clips. One of the first sighting...

...the next one is while we were waiting for the luggage. I mentioned to Joseph (you can hear it if you listen closely) that his mission president sure loved him, his response is indicative of his love for those in Wisconsin and the U.P.....

Elder Free is Home!!!

Elder Free is Home!!!

He's back and he's got a mob with him! We are all just jumping up and down with joy because Elder Jopes Free is back! I thought I would share this with the rest of the family. We took plenty of pictures and will take plenty more, so I won't post the whole gallery...yet.

-P.S. This is our first family picture in two whole years!

Mesa District Writing Contest Personal Narrative Winner

Mesa District Writing Contest Personal Narrative Winner

Joshua wrote a personal narrative in school that won in his class and was an Honorable mention for Mesa District...I think that is about 41 elementary schools! Way to go Josh! I thought you might like to read the narrative:

The Last 47 Seconds

"Timeout!" My coach raised his hands to a "T" looking sign. My team and I ran to the chairs and sat down. Sweat covered my whole body. We tried to hydrate ourselves by sipping some ice-cold water. Our team tried to listen. I couldn't. My mind was racing and my heart was pounding like a herd of horses sprinting thirty five mph. My eyes were blurry because of the sweat. It felt like there was a furnace on my eyes. I could see my coach shouting to us and, I noticed the crowd was dead silent. They were probably waiting to see and hear what would happen next.

The gym was glistening like diamonds were everywhere. I saw the score-board and I saw that it was 57-58, and we were losing. I was as scared and nervous as a bird waiting to be dinner. I looked up to the audience and noticed my family was dead silent. My mom was holding her hands together, and my dad was talking to my brother, and the rest were just staring at me, slightly smiling. When I heard the referee blow the whistle, my heart dropped. There were forty-seven seconds on the clock. This was our last chance to win. I stood up, told my teammates that it was time, and then we walked to the basketball court.

My teammate, Lumpy, tipped the ball to me and like a flash of lightning, I passed the ball to my other teammate, Quaid, and he shot a lay-up. Swoosh! Yes! Although I was filled with joy, I got even more nervous. So I said to myself, "Hurry Josh! Get back on defense!" I raced back to my place and glimpsed the clock. Theere was only 34 seconds on the clock and the other team was wasting time. 33...25...23. The shot clock was at three seconds and finally they shot a two pointer. They made it. It was 59-60 and we were losing! My heart was about to explode, but I decided to take in the pressure and everything else and throw it into the trash. I passed the ball in and the went. 22...15...12...11...9. It was time to react now, so I bolted down the line. 8...7..., and Quaid passed the ball to me and I passed it to Lumpy and he shot a lay-up. It was like slow motion. The ball left his hands. He did a finger roll. The audience tensed. They were clutching their hands. They were nervous. The basketball approached the hoop. I smiled. The ball went through the hoop. Yah!!!!!!!!!! But as quick as a flash the other team got the ball and show. 6..5..4..3. The ball bounced off the rim and went off. Yes! We got the ball and wasted the time. 2..1..0. "The gami is over!" shouted the referee. We all shouted and patted backs. I looked up to my dad and he gave me thumbs up. I smiled. That was the best game ever!

Temple Blessings

Temple Blessings

Here are some pictures we took, mostly during February including mission call opening, Melinda's birthday, Joshua's court of honor, and more.

Going to the temple with Mike was the most awesome though!

Match Game

Match Game

Dad (Uncle Joe) found a cool game from the Ensign. You take a box of matches and a bottle of water (the water is for weight). You then take turns placing a match on the top of the bottle. The first one to drop one or more matches, loses. It is pretty much the opposite of Pick-Up-Sticks. Josh decided to try placing all 250 matches on the bottle by himself and he did it! Fun times...fun times...

Ready for Heaven in 2007

Ready for Heaven in 2007

We had a wonderful time at the temple on Saturday the 6th for the culmination of our ward "Ready for Heaven in 2007". Here is a picture taken that morning. We are just missing our missionary, but we figure he is ready for heaven too!

England...the last days

England...the last days

Here is the last installment of pictures. The trip was so wonderful thanks to all those that helped out. Special thanks to the LeSueurs for the tickets. To the kids for taking care of each other. To the Jamisons for hosting us. To the area presidency for the time and the vehicle. To mom and dad for their support. Hopefully we will get the comments up soon as well.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from the Free kids! We had a lot of fun (75 photos worth) with the tripod-camera duo. It started out with me taking a picture of Becca, Danny, Josh and Andrew, but we were able to fit me in with the timer function. Melinda was able to join in a bit later. We had several goof-ups, because our timing was off, but we got some great group photos and singles! Perhaps my Dad can help me (again) in posting all of the photos on the website...I forgot how! Too much fun!
P.S. I am the first to post on the blog in 2007! Ü

Joe Free family December

Joe Free family December

Here is a boatload of pictures from our family from December including soccer parties, Daniel and Joshua's birthdays and Christmas. Enjoy our craziness!

FHE in November...let's go outside!

FHE in November...let's go outside!

Here are a few pictures from our "spring". All of us Arizonans are enjoying coming out of the house in the wonderful weather now. The windows are open and we want to "bundle-up" at night and at morning scripture reading.

This is a picture of one of our favorite fhe games. Dodgeball on the tramp. Here you can see Andrew throwing onto the trampoline. The little guy moving left is Adam. You and see Daniel on the left...twice. Josh is also on the tramp. You can also see Rebecca and Melinda moving.

We made a fire in our smoker and made s'mores for treats. We made a video of the closing song you can see in the pictures or here. Andrew shows off our favorite way...without the graham craker. Just put the chocolate in the toasted marshmellow, hold it for a bit so the chocolate melts, then pop it all in at once for some gooey goodness! Enjoy we did.
