romantic birthday getaway

romantic birthday getaway

Dave and I took off to Manti for a romantic birthday treat for both of us. It was also a late anniversary treat too. The Manti House Inn was a lovely place and we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast there. As a special treat we took a carriage ride around the little town. How fun!! Thanks to Marilee and Holly for watching our lively little ones.

Vince Lombardi

Hey there Family!!
how's life?,...check this out.

"Mental toughness is many things. It is humility because it bohooves all of us to remember that simplicity is the sign of greatness and meekness is the sign of true strength. Mental toughness is spartanism with qualities of sacrifice, self denial, dedication. It is fearlessness, and it is love."

We are seeking after the Eye of the Tiger this transfer, and it has been great. This famous football coach sure has a great outlook,... I really enjoyed this quote.

The mission is the bomb dot com. I am really enjoying myself a lot out here. I added more pics to the Webshots site,... so you can check them out there.
Take care and run a muck up those Rocky stairs this week!!!

Smiles from South Africa

Smiles from South Africa

Dear Family,
At the end of this Sabbath Day we are grateful to have met with the Saints. We went to sacrament meeting in Seboking, a black township. The first speaker was a young lady student in Institute. She spoke on agency and the plan of salvation. She had us into the scriptures and didn't let up until her time was gone. The next speaker was a brother who spoke of the fall of Adam with clear understanding of the doctrine of the fall. He spoke with emphasis and looked us directly in the eye as he declared the truth.

Becca and Jordan in the Park

Becca and Jordan in the Park

This is pure sibling love in action! This is Becca and Jordan tackling, er, um, playing in the park. If we were both standing up straight, you could tell that he is almost as tall as I am, which is why we are not. Note his Italian soccer jersey from me.

Becca and her Boyfriend

Becca and her Boyfriend

This is a picture of me and Reid in his backyard over spring break. Don't you think that Target in the background is a nice touch? (: I had gone to a women's leadership conference and he had gone to the temple, so we were already in our nice clothes. Why not take a picture, or two, or 300?

Becca and her Love

Becca and her Love

Same situation as "Becca and her Boyfriend." These are only two of about 1500 pictures that our friend, Spencer, took for us that day. This was the end of a very good week-and-a-half spring break. Well, official spring break for Reid, unofficial spring break for me (stupid BYU...). We spent almost every waking moment together, including a few picnics between my classes and taking Melinda out for dinner.

Becca and her Best Friend

Becca and her Best Friend

In the afternoon, we went to the park with some friends and Jordan. The weather was perfect, even though it was the first week of March (what ever happened to "in like a lion, out like a lamb"?). In the midst of rollerblading and Frisbee we managed to pause a moment for this adorable shot. Are we cute or what?

Becca as Deb

Becca as Deb

Our ward had a "Napoleon Dynamite" Night, and I decided to go back 15 years and give myself a side ponytail. Don't you love the clash between my striped shirt and the striped background? Wow...I won a "Vote for Pedro" shirt that I am going to send to my darling in Denver (Reid).

The Whole Cast

The Whole Cast

My bishop was Uncle Rico, 2nd counselor was Pedro, activities co-chair was Kip, post-LaFawnda, and, of course, me as Deb. Napoleon is a friend of the other activities co-chair, so he came and did his dance for us. Check us out!

New Missionary Enters MTC!

New Missionary Enters MTC!

Today I had the opportunity to go with my brother as he entered the MTC! My Uncle Ric and I (and little Taylor Jamison) picked Elder Free (Jopes) up from the airport this morning and then came back to my cousins' house in Highland. We all talked for a bit and Joseph had some breakfast. Then we (my Uncle Ric, Aunt Jodie, Eric, Matthew, Taylor, Joseph and I) all drove to Provo. We stopped at the Krispy Kreme in Orem and got some doughnuts (what else?!) which we ate in the parking lot across from the MTC. Then we walked over and got his luggage stowed away before going in the main doors where two nice ladies made sure his suit pocket was all ready for his tag. Then he got his cool missionary tag with the fun "celestial spot" (as the mission pres. called it) on it. This dot shows everyone that he is a newbie. ?

FHE Western Movie

FHE Western Movie

For the month of February, my ward was combined with another ward for FHE activities. Each group from my ward was paired up with group from the other ward, and together we were to create a movie. Each group was given a different genre of movie to make, and my group ended up with WESTERN. I think we totally lucked out with that! On the 26th of Feb, we got together for a combined ward party and had an "Academy Awards" of sorts. We had dinner (sub sandwiches) and watched all of the 5-7 min videos and then had popcorn and played a trivia game while the judges made their decisions. Oh, yeah, there was a list of about 15 things that if included in your movie would give you extra points. We got all but 3-4 of them. Anyway, our movie ended up turning out really great and we tied for BEST PICTURE! (I think we won because they asked the audience to vote between the two and there were more votes for our film...but the person in charge didn't want to announce one way or the other and told us to fight it out.) We also won BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS & EDITING. Anyway, I have a copy of the DVD we made (see pict of it with its cool label and everything) which has the option of playing it "Old Western" style (sepia tone) or in regular color. By the way, it is a silent movie with cool saloon/cowboy music in the background. Too fun!

Joseph and Michael have refilled their aquarium. They promptly added a needlenose fish which eats...well...fish. Here is a movie clip of the feeding this morning...(you need quicktime to view the movie-just click on the picture)
